SANDY ROGERS, OWNER/INSTRUCTOR

Sandy Rogers is the founder of ACE Dog Sports in San Francisco. Sandy and the staff at ACE have enjoyed training people to handle their dogs to a variety of goals since 1993. She is proud to be associated with the Power Paws and Clean Run Agility Camps; she has managed the events eight times to date. Her career in the animal care industry began over twenty five years ago; her employment has included being a veterinary assistant, a race horse groom and managing the largest commercial boarding facility in northern California for 12 years. Sandy also owned and operated a pet travel agency for 11 years.

Her extensive back ground with animals in stressful situation gives her a unique insight into their behavior. Her specialties include working with problem dogs, motivating the non-motivated dog and /or their handler as well as relationship building between dog and handler.

Sandy's philosophy in training is that the relationship between the dog and handler comes first. She is a firm believer in building rock solid foundations in training and has the ability to break down and teach all the little steps that create solid foundation skills. All else comes second to the relationship and foundation.

Sandy has been a successful competitor in obedience and agility since 1991.

Sandy loves to compete with her dogs and is very proud that her agility champions are in three different height categories; 12, 16 and 22-inch and on three different breeds. Beyond the pride of her dogs' accomplishments she is most proud of the success of her students, in and out of the competition ring.

Brink came into this world in the summer of 1997 and into my life at the age of four month. A friend had purchased him off a rancher for 35.00. He is my first Border Collie and has taught me about the love and respect of a true working dog. He is my right hand earning his keep every day as my demo dog Brink is a five time Grand Prix Championship Finalist, placing third in 2000 and fifth in 2001 and 2003. He is a two time USDAA Steeplechase finalist, placing 5th at the Championships in 2002. Brink won the Purina Incredible Dog Challenge regionally in 2003 and 2004. He won the USDAA Grand Prix Super Regional in 2004 and 2006; he is an AGILITY DOG CHAMPION with a Silver Lifetime Achievement Award. He has appeared on television on the Animal Planet, PAX Channel and NBC channels.

I am very proud of his accomplishment and he is still competing at the top at the age of 10 years, in 2007 he earned the right to move to a lower jump height and won his first USDAA Performance National Standard Regional, earning his way into the national finals for that year.

All you have to do is meet Brink to know that he is an incredibly special dog. It is an honor to be his partner in and out of the competiton ring.

Sandy's latest dog to hit the winners circle is Border Collie “TY”. He is one leg away from his MASTERS AGILITY DOG TITLE.

A new Puppy named “Quill” joined the team in the fall of 2004. She is the only girl in the family, not to mention a Jack Russell Terrier. She is planning a debut in late ’05.

"RASTA" was the first UDX in Border terrier breed history. She won the terrier division at the AKC Obedience Invitational and also has multiple Gaines/Puperoni Championship placements. She was a multi High-in-Trial obedience dog and was ranked nationally first or second in her breed for eight consecutive years. Rasta was a USDAA AGILITY DOG CHAMPION. She is missed every day, she died in 1999.
