TIPS
Always warm up muscles before working your dog. (DOG & HANDLER)
Only use a flat, buckle collar when guiding the dog
on the obstacles. If you use another training collar for control, use
a tab on the training collar.
Keep your leash bundled up in your hand. Loops cause
accidents.
Teach your dog to walk (work) on your right.
Practice all obstacles on BOTH sides (the more you
do with the dog on the right the better)
Sharpen your recalls. You will need an Instant response
to your command.
Teach your dog to go to a target.
Always approach obstacles straight on, never from
an angle.
Always, Always, Always, (now & forever) "work" the
contact zones!!!
Communicate right-of-way agreements when working with
multiple people. Especially on the Dog Walk,
A-Frame and tunnels
Use a "spotter" on the contact obstacles
until the dog is comfortable with them. Don’t be in a hurry,
take it slow and safe. DO NOT train the teeter until the dog is comfortable
with the dog walk, and then use a helper for several sessions. Physical
and mental "accidents" happen when dogs are rushed.
KEEP IT SAFE AND KEEP IT FUN! ! !
